ESA Launches Probe to Revisit Asteroid Crime Scene

NASA Space Technology The European Space Agency’s Hera spacecraft is en route to assess how NASA’s 2022 DART mission impacted the asteroid Dimorphos. DART smashed into the asteroid at a little over 6 kilometers per second, sending out a cloud of debris and slowing it slightly. Hera’s detailed post-collision survey aims to tell us just how efficient the kinetic impact was. This will inform the design of planetary defense missions, should we need to defend Earth from an asteroid threat.A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying Hera lifted off from Cape Canaveral on 7 October and is now on a journey, via a flyby of Mars in 2025, to asteroid Didymos and its minute moon Dimorphos. Technology tamfitronics The federal government through the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has initiated an investigation into the ongoing difficulties passengers face in purchasing tickets online for the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service, which has led to ticket racketeering.The investigation is being led by a team headed by the Deputy Director of Information and Communications Technology.In a statement signed by the NRC’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood, the corporation acknowledged the recent ticketing issues and outlined steps being taken to resolve them.To address the situation, the Managing Director has appointed Mohammed Modibo Ibrahim, previously in charge of Enugu Station, as the new Manager of the Abuja-Kaduna Train Station, effective immediately.The NRC also announced plans to increase the frequency of trains on the Abuja-Kaduna route within the next two weeks to meet growing demand.The corporation assured passengers...
