JD Technology & Rokid unveil JoyGlance: smart-glasses shopping you control by looking and speaking—glance to find, voice to pay.
On Oct. 21, 2025, JD Technology has partnered with AR company Rokid to introduce JoyGlance, a shopping agent built for smart glasses that lets users point the glasses’ camera at a product, find the same or similar items online, and add them to cart hands-free. JoyGlance will debut on Rokid’s smart-glasses lineup in November, with checkout and payment features scheduled to go live in January 2026, the companies said.
To address payment security, JoyGlance uses a “speech recognition + voiceprint” scheme the partners describe as “financial-grade,” claiming stronger protection than traditional passwords or fingerprint authentication. The system fuses multimodal biometrics and lets users set a voice passphrase, which is then verified together...
‘Almost like battleship Galactica’: Chan Chun Sing on Singapore navy’s new Victory-class Multi-Role Combat Vessels, Singapore News
Singapore's new multi-role combat vessels (MRCVs) are "almost like the battleship Galactica"in the 1970s science fiction series Battlestar Galactica, because their weapon systems and capabilities can be evolved as the mission evolves, said Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing.
Speaking on Tuesday (Oct 21) at the launch of the first Victory-class MRCV named Victory at ST Engineering's Benoi shipyard, Chan said that as Singapore's sea lines of communications extend further, new capabilities, such as the MRCVs are needed for Singapore to ensure that these strategic lines, "remain open and accessible".
Referring to the challenges which lie ahead, Chan said that the MRCVs can help the navy and the wider Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to stay ahead of threats.
"What we need is a ship that can keep evolving with our operational requirements. And that is why, when this ship...
Truework’s Ethan Winchell on creating a better VOIE process
Among the many tedious steps in the mortgage manufacturing process, verification of income and employment (VOIE) might top the list of challenges for lenders.
Ethan Winchell’s company, Trueworkaims to remove these headaches. The San Francisco-based firm was founded in 2017 and has sprouted into a major mortgage technology partner. When Truework was acquired in April by Checkrit had raised $125 million in seed funding and had a valuation of $480 million.
Winchell, a 2025 HousingWire Rising Star, sat down for an interview earlier this week at the Mortgage Bankers Association’s annual convention in Las Vegas to discuss his company’s priorities as it seeks to help lenders lower costs and overcome tech hurdles.
This interview has been edited for length and clarity.Neil Pierson: You founded your company when you were 25, so what do you feel like you’ve learned...
Comet 3I/ATLAS Losing At Least Two Kangaroos’ Worth Of Dust Every Second
In a matter of days, Comet 3I/ATLAS will reach its closest point to the Sun. The third known interstellar object will reach its peak of activity, releasing gases and dust like it might not have done in tens of millions of years, or maybe even longer. Comparison between this interstellar interloper and the previous two suggests that Comet 3I/ATLAS continues to be in a class of its own.

Integrated epigenetic and genetic programming of primary human T cells
MainEngineered T cells, containing transgenic T cell receptors (TCRs), chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) or other synthetic antigen receptors, are an emerging modality to treat cancer, autoimmunity and infectious diseases1,2,3,4. Although autologous CAR-T cells have been transformative for treating aggressive hematological malignancies, substantial advances are needed to achieve similar success in treating solid tumors and generating allogeneic cell therapies. Solid tumors demonstrate a number of challenges including immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments, physical barriers and T cell exhaustion that limit the responses of current therapies5,6,7. Allogeneic CAR-T cells must additionally overcome T cell rejection by the host immune system and toxicities such as graft-versus-host disease8. A number of studies have nominated genes that, in principle, can be manipulated to overcome these challenges; however, enacting these strategies in cell products remains a major challenge and will require clinically relevant,...

The mysterious marble head found in Crimea belonged to a woman who weighed on the fate of her city
In 2003, an exhumed marble head in Crimea intrigued archaeologists. Twenty years later, an investigation mixing science and art history lifts the veil on the identity of this female figure which marked the history of its city.
In 2003, the excavations of the ancient Greek city of Tauric dear, the current Sébastopol in Crimea, delivered the head marblemarble of a Roman matron, remarkably preserved in the half-sous-ground of a large residence of 718 m², close to the theater and the Agora. Around it, currencies, pottery and an altar in ceramicceramic With the effigy of Artemis and Apollo attests to an intact archaeological context, allowing a fine dating: the piece was deposited between 60 and 240 AD, probably at the end of the IIᵉ.
Although damaged (neznez and broken facial features before its burial) the sculpture retains remarkable...
Pest Resistance Threatens New Biotech Corn Defense | Mirage News
Corn rootworms, pests responsible for billions of dollars in yearly crop losses, are evolving resistance that weakens even the latest biotechnology controls, according to a new study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Drawing on decades of data across multiple states, University of Arizona entomologists found that field-evolved resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis, or Bt, is undermining the effectiveness of corn that targets rootworms with the combination of Bt and RNA interference, or RNAi, a new biotech control that turns the rootworms' own genetic instructions against them.
The research team analyzed extensive field data collected over the past two decades in 12 previous studies, including millions of rootworms evaluated across the Corn Belt, which extends from western Ohio to eastern Nebraska and northeastern Kansas.
"The results consistently show that in fields where...
NASA ISRO radar satellite beams first Earth images from space
NASA ISRO radar satellite beams first Earth images from spaceby Clarence OxfordLos Angeles CA (SPX) Sep 26, 2025Preliminary radar images from the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission reveal the extraordinary capabilities of the most advanced Earth-observing radar satellite ever launched. The spacecraft, developed through a long-standing U.S.-India partnership, is now preparing for full science operations later this year.
Launched by ISRO on July 30, NISAR is designed to provide unprecedented insights into natural hazards, agriculture, and climate change. Its first L-band synthetic aperture radar images, released in August, captured detailed views of Mount Desert Island in Maine and agricultural regions of North Dakota. Waterways, forests, farmland, and human structures were all distinctly visible, underscoring the system's ability to differentiate between land cover types.
"The successful capture of these first images from NISAR is a remarkable example...
