Schedule a Free Canadian Citizenship Consultation with the Cohen ImmigrationLaw Firm
The amendments, introduced by committee for the bill’s second reading, would have limited citizenship rights to children born outside Canada to Canadian citizens by descent, preventing many children from inheriting citizenship from their Canadian parents by birth or adoption.
The proposed amendments, which were removed, aimed to restrict second-generation citizenship by descent in the following ways:Requiring that the Canadian parent(s) meet a stricter version of the original bill’s substantial connection to Canada test.Requiring that children aged 18 or older when applying for citizenship undergo a security...

At Moms for Liberty Summit, Parents Are Urged to Turn Their Grievances Into Lawsuits
This story was produced byThe Hechinger Report,a nonprofit, nonpartisan news outlet focused on education.
KISSIMMEE, Fla. — It’s not a rebrand. But the Moms for Liberty group that introduced itself three years ago as a band of female “joyful warriors” shedding domestic modesty to make raucous public challenges to masks, books and curriculum, is trying to glow up.
The group’s national summit this past weekend at a convention center outside Orlando leaned into family (read: parental rights), faith — and youth. The latter appeared to be a bid to join the cool kids who are the new face of conservatism in America (hint: young, Christian, very male), as well as a recognition of the group’s “diversity,” which includes grandparents, men and kids.
But even as the youth...

Trump formally appeals ‘politically charged’ hush money conviction
Business
President Donald Trump's lawyers have formally appealed his criminal conviction in New York on charges of falsifying business records, saying the case was improperly based on “manufactured felony charges.” “This is the most politically charged prosecution in our Nation’s history,” the filing begins. “The DA, a Democrat, brought those charges in the middle of a contentious Presidential election in which President Trump was the leading Republican candidate," the lawyers wrote. "These charges against President Trump were as unprecedented as their political context,” and they involved “alleged conduct that has never been found to violate any New York law.”“This case should never have seen the inside of a courtroom, let alone resulted in a conviction,” said the appeal, filed Monday with the state Appellate Division’s First Department, a mid-level appeals court. The appeal seeks to...
UNAD Renews Call for Total Gambling Ad Ban in Spain
Spain’s Network for Addiction Care (UNAD) has reiterated its demand for the complete ban on all gambling and betting advertising, asserting that such promotional messaging is incompatible with prevention efforts and public health policies.
UNAD president Luciano Poyato stressed that “promoting gambling is fundamentally at odds with prevention,” warning that anyone can be susceptible to addiction, particularly when exposure starts at a young age. The network calls for comprehensive prevention and awareness initiatives, including programs that encourage healthy recreational options for youth and vulnerable groups. It also urges the prompt adoption of new regulations to cap deposits on online gambling platforms, aiming to reduce...

Nanotyrannus is Distinct Dinosaur Lineage, New Research Shows
Paleontologists have examined an exceptionally well-preserved, near somatically mature tyrannosaur skeleton from the Hell Creek Formation of Montana. Using growth rings, spinal fusion data and developmental anatomy, the researchers demonstrated that the new specimen was around 20 years old and physically mature.
Its skeletal features — including larger forelimbs, more teeth, fewer tail vertebrae, and distinct skull nerve patterns — are features fixed early in development and biologically incompatible with Tyrannosaurus rex.
