Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have released a statement through their Archewell foundation urging people to vote in the upcoming 2024 US election.
It read: “Voting is not just a right; it’s a fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities. At The Archewell Foundation, we recognize that civic engagement, no matter one’s political party, is at the heart of a more just and equitable world. By participating in initiatives like this, we aim to amplify the message that every voice matters.
“Together, let’s make sure every eligible voter is informed and empowered to participate in shaping America’s future.”
Neither Meghan, Harry nor the foundation has publically endorsed Kamala Harris or Donald Trump in the upcoming race.
Ahead of the last presidential election, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex filmed a video statement from the gardens of their Montecito mansion.

In the video – which came shortly after Meghan and Harry moved into their multi-million-pound home – Harry encouraged US voters to “reject hate speech”.
Meghan also labelled the 2020 presidential race as the “most important election of our lifetime”.
Although they didn’t make their vote clear, many viewers felt as though it was “obvious” that the couple was backing Joe Biden over Donald Trump.
Following the video address, many Republicans and critics called on the Royal Family to strip the couple of their titles – with some referring to Meghan and Harry as “inappropriate”.

At the time, Piers Morgan said: “Prince Harry poking his woke nose into the US election and effectively telling Americans to vote against President Trump is completely unacceptable behaviour for a member of the Royal Family.”
In response to the call, Buckingham Palace released a statement. This read: “We would not comment. The Duke is not a working member of the Royal Family and any comments he makes are made in personal capacity.”
The couple stepped down as working royals back in early 2020. They now reside in the California with their children – Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State for the successful conduct of its local government congresses across the 16 councils.
Saraki, in a statement signed by his press officer on local matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, on Sunday, described the exercise as a demonstration of the PDP’s commitment to inclusiveness, fairness and internal democracy.
He said the outcome of the congresses has positioned the PDP as a credible alternative capable of restoring good governance in Kwara and across Nigeria.
His words: “The PDP has once again shown that it is the party that provides a level playing field and prioritises the will of the people.
“The maturity displayed in Kwara State congresses is a reflection of the national character of our great party.”
He expressed confidence that with renewed energy and unity, the PDP...
The killing of Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and preeminent leader of the young MAGA right, has stirred an outpouring of sorrow and condemnations of political violence from members of both major parties.
Mr. Kirk died on Wednesday after he was shot while speaking to roughly 3,000 people at Utah Valley University. He was at the Orem, Utah, campus launching his “American Comeback Tour,” in which he engaged college students across the country in provocative, sometimes fiery political debates. Officials at a news conference said they believed the shooting was “a targeted attack towards one individual.”
While the motive for the shooting remains unknown, Utah Republican Gov. Spencer Cox called it “a political assassination” and urged all Americans to engage in self-reflection.Why We Wrote ThisWhile the motive behind the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk remains...

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has extended his congratulations to celebrity chef Hilda Baci and food brand Gino after they entered the record books with the largest serving of Nigerian-style Jollof rice.
Atiku described the accomplishment as more than a culinary milestone, noting that it reflects the ingenuity and determination of Nigerians to excel on the global stage.
He said the recognition is “yet another reminder that our people can break records, set standards, and inspire the world,” adding that such achievements continue to strengthen national pride.
The record-breaking event has further spotlighted Nigerian Jollof, a dish long celebrated across West Africa, and placed it on an international platform through the efforts of Baci and her collaborators.
Atiku urged more Nigerians to take inspiration from the feat and continue to showcase the country’s culture, creativity, and resilience in diverse...
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he was not invited to the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Wike maintained that he had no knowledge of the NEC meeting or the party’s planned national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16.
The PDP, during its NEC meeting held on July 24, had approved Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, as the venue for the convention, where a new National Working Committee (NWC) is expected to be elected.

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has rejected claims linking the recent deaths of two female councillors in the state to politics, describing such suggestions as baseless and insensitive.
The deceased councillors are Oluwakemi Rufai, who represented Ward C1 in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, and Zainab Shotayo, the only female councillor in Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Ilupeju. Both women died within the same week, less than a month after taking office, sparking public speculation about possible political undertones.
Responding to the insinuations, the Lagos APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, cautioned against spreading misinformation and politicising the deaths.
He said: “It was reported that they were indisposed. Their deaths had nothing to do with politics. Wherever such insinuations are coming from demeans humanity if properly considered. Death is inevitable, and it can occur at any...
(The Conversation) — For decades, one name was ubiquitous in American evangelical homes: Focus on the Family. A media empire with millions of listeners and readers, its messages about parenting, marriage and politics seemed to reach every conservative Christian church and school.
And one man’s name was nearly synonymous with Focus on the Family: James Dobson.
Dobson, a primary figure of the Religious Right who died on Aug. 21, 2025, was born in 1936, when conservative Protestant Christianity was a far cry from what it is today. As a sociologist of religion who has studied American evangelicalism for 30 years, I believe Dobson’s influence and moral authority were instrumental in transforming the Religious Right into the powerful cultural and political force it has been for half a century.A household nameDobson earned a doctorate in psychology from the...

The Euro (EUR) weakens against the Japanese Yen (JPY) amid fears of a French political crisis. France is braced for a new political crisis as the minority government of François Bayrou appears almost certain to be toppled in a confidence vote next month, amid deep political divisions over an unpopular austerity budget and debt-reduction plan.
Technically, the constructive outlook of EUR/GBP remains in place as the cross is well-supported above the key 100-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) on the daily chart. Nonetheless,...
