There may well be a glimmer of hope for people of the Senior Crew Affiliation of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Tutorial Crew Union (NASU) as they would per chance procure half of of their withheld salaries, pending approval from President Bola Tinubu.

The Minister of Training, Prof. Tahir Mamman, published this all the scheme via an interview on Channels Television’s Politics At the present time.

Despite the extend in approving the payment, Mamman assured that the federal government became once actively working towards resolving the topic.

He clarified that the resolution to compensate academic workers became once discretionary and does now no longer robotically lengthen to non-academic workers.

In accordance with Mamman, the non-academic workers people of universities weren’t on strike for a related length in 2022 as their academic counterparts.

He talked about the federal government has been “doing all the pieces imaginable to in discovering relief for them.”

SSANU and NASU had accused the Federal Authorities of unfair remedy and discrimination by failing to pay them adore their academic counterparts.

Recall that in 2022, all college unions embarked on an eight-month strike, advocating for improved welfare prerequisites.

While aged President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration performed a ‘No Work, No Pay’ coverage, President Tinubu current the open of 4 months of the withheld salaries final October, though just correct for the academic workers.

Addressing allegations of discrimination, Mamman emphasised the cohesion of motive among college workers, pushing aside any intentional exclusion but somewhat attributing it to initial communication challenges.

“There may well be a court judgement on ‘no work, no pay.’ ASUU getting four months’ pay became once truly a discretion and resolution on the half of the President. So, it doesn’t robotically transfer (to NASU and SSANU) but the topic is into consideration.”

“I don’t assume it is stable to keep a time on it but it surely’s safer to advise that we are on it and we are pushing.

“And finally, the non-academic workers, weren’t on strike for a related length with the academic workers — about four months or so. So, if they are getting payment, it would be half of of that (payment), if the President will follow his precedent with the academic workers,” the minister emphasised.
