The actor talked about his approach to health and fitness in an interview with Instant Bollywood, stating that he stays in shape through more than simply rigorous exercise or rigid diets. Ali claims that the true key to feeling good and keeping in shape is something that most people don’t consider: making rest and recuperation, particularly sleep, a priority.

Ali shared his preference in fitness supplements; he said that he liked to keep things natural. “Creatine is a very good, safe supplement. It’s natural, and you can take it. It’s great for muscle building,” he said, and also added that supplements can help, but they’re not the foundation of a healthy body.

For Ali, the real secret lies in proper rest and recovery. He said that the most important thing is sleep for recovery because all the recovery happens during sleep. He adds that the second most important thing is working out and keeping a good, balanced diet. Other things depend on the body, because every body is different.

He also stresses that following a one-size-fits-all approach to dieting is wrong. He said, “One go-to diet doesn’t work for everyone. That’s actually wrong. Many times, I see dietitians giving random diets to people, telling them to fast for certain hours or follow strict plans, but that’s not how it works. Everybody responds differently, and it’s important to understand what works best for you.”
