Peachtree City

Business
Peachtree City is unique in its economic development efforts. It has been actively recruiting businesses since its start long ago, back in 1959. But only businesses that fit its plan for growth. In that way it is unique. I will give you an example.
Many decades ago, when PTC was not what it is now, my father was plant manager for a garment manufacturing operation in Cartersville. He was looking at expanding to other locations in the South and came to PTC. He was surprised to find that the city was not interested. Factories creating minimum wage jobs was just not consistent with the vision of PTC. My father understood and supported that decision. He eventually expanded the company into Alabama and Puerto Rico. Now days, almost all garment manufacturing has moved overseas, proving the PTCs vision was on target.
The point is that PTC is unique. We want commercial growthbut not at the expense of our quality of life. And that is a true positive. We all moved here for the green spaces, golf cart paths, the excellent schools, the top-rated police force, fine medical care and family friendly nature of the city. So, while a large-scale garment manufacturer is not a good fit, light manufacturing and corporate headquarters are.
Over the last decade or so, the very nature of business has changed. There are many more solo entrepreneurs, often home based. In other words, men and women who have the vision to strike out on their own and establish a brand-new enterprise. And where better to do it than PTC?
PTC has multiple networking groups for these businesspeople. PTC also has appropriately designed office space. And the educational institutions, Clayton State University and Southern Crescent Technical College on South Peachtree Parkway, to help. Launch Fayette is our incubator to help these enterprising individuals.
Blue Cole and Peachtree City are supportive of business. They have launched “The Compass” e-newsletter to keep business leaders connected and augment city communications and support.
Mayor Learnard is an electrical engineer with a strong manufacturing background. She commented, “Peachtree City strives to create a positive culture, creating a place where businesses and families want to be.” The goal is to take their business to the next level.
With the enlightened leadership of our city, we will continue to see growth of the right kind, creating solid jobs and tax revenue. And improving our quality of life, the factor most important to our residents.
