How to make great coffee with fewer beans, according to science

Physics Physicists have determined that the ideal technique for pour-over coffee can use up to 10 per cent fewer beans to make a cup just as flavoursome By Matthew Sparkes   The right technique can make great pour-over coffee with fewer beans Kemal Yildirim/Getty Images Physicists have discovered a technique that can produce the perfect cup of coffee with up to 10 per cent fewer beans. IEEE-HKN Marks 120th Anniversary With Hackathon

Among the many events that marked the IEEE–Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN) honor society’s 120th anniversary last year was its first international hackathon. Organized by a group of 10 HKN students and led by recent graduate Christian Winingar from the Gamma Theta chapter at Missouri University of Science and Technology, in Rolla, the hackathon required more than seven months of planning. To tie the hackathon to the establishment of the society, the organizing committee created mathematical and engineering problems around saving the eight founders of HKN from...

This rotational understanding has helped maintain stability in our diverse federation. Presently, power resides in the South—specifically the Southwest. Cutting Tinubu’s presidency short after four years could destabilize this balance, potentially backfiring when the Southeast’s long-overdue turn arrives. Supporting Tinubu now is not a surrender of ambition—it’s an investment in political goodwill and national credibility. A...
