Samsung is building a dedicated production line for iPhone Fold OLED panels

Samsung is expected to be the exclusive display supplier for Apple’s foldable iPhone. Apple was reportedly impressed by Samsung’s nearly crease-less display tech, which will be used on the iPhone Fold’s 7.8” main display.
According to the new report, Samsung estimates it can produce up to 35,000 foldable display units per month and as many as 15 million per year. That would be more than enough for Cupertino, which is expected to sell anywhere between 6-8 million units of its foldable iPhone.

The foldable iPhone is expected to bring a 5.5-inch cover screen, an under-display camera and a side-mounted Touch ID sensor. The device will be extremely thin at around 9mm when folded and it will use a liquid metal hinge. Early estimates suggest launch price of $2,100 – $2,300 – a bit more than Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy Z Fold7.
