Nutritionist Robbie Puddick told the Daily Mail that hearty soups can help your body fight colds and flu. He said soups “support the immune system” because they’re easy to digest and full of nutrients. Puddick explained that soup helps people with common gut issues and poor digestion since it provides “really bioavailable nutrition.”
He said proteins and plant-based compounds in soups are easier for the gut to break down. However, he warned that store-bought soups “are often packed full of sugar,” and advised making them fresh so you “know exactly what’s in them.”
