Skanska hires Sporn from roads body to lead infrastructure operations

Skanska has appointed Dean Sporn as operations director within its UK infrastructure division.Sporn will join in early 2025 from National Highways, where he has spent the past eight years as director of enhancements in the major projects directorate.During his time at the government-owned roads body, he was responsible for several high-profile schemes, including the A417 Missing Link, M25 junction 10 upgrade, and the A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross dualling.A civil engineer by background, Sporn has more than 30 years’ experience in infrastructure delivery. Before joining National Highways in 2016, he spent seven years at CPB Contractors in Australia and New Zealand, leading a AU$2bn (£1.06bn) programme of road, rail, tunnelling and healthcare projects.Skanska UK executive vice-president Andrew English said Sporn brought “extensive infrastructure experience from the UK and overseas” to the business.Sporn said he...

Henry Brothers appointed to build Nottingham health hub

Henry Brothers has been appointed to deliver a new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in central Nottingham. The Northern Ireland-based contractor said it will start enabling works at the site on Lister Gate this month, after contracts were signed between site landlord Homes England and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, which will operate the facility. The £92.2m-turnover contractor did not divulge the value of the deal, although data intelligence provider Glenigan estimates it at £25m. Designed by architects Leonard Design, the building will be delivered with structural and civil engineering input from Arup. The scheme is part of a national programme backed by the Department of Health and Social Care to improve diagnostic capacity in community settings.
