The AME Church is the world’s oldest Protestant denomination, established by persons of African descent.Since 1816, the AME Church has convened at least every four years to review and change the denomination’s laws and policies, receive reports from its agencies, and elect denominational leadership. McCarthy suffered a tear in the meniscus of his right knee during last weekend's preseason game and that he will need to undergo surgery.
