Zamfara: PDP mobilizers, 147 councillorship aspirants accuse Dauda Lawal abandoning them

Grassroots PDP members and 147 councillor aspirants from every ward in Zamfara state have accused the governor Dauda Lawal of “cold-blooded betrayal” and “politics of ingratitude”. Gathering in Gusau under the leadership of veteran party organiser Buhari Buba Mai Goro, the group issued what they called a “final warning” to the state’s chief executive. “We are not here to beg, we are here to warn,” Mai Goro said. “Without the council aspirants and ward mobilisers from all 147 wards, there would be no PDP government today.” He accused the governor of abandoning loyal party workers who risked their lives in violent, bandit-plagued areas and spent their own money to mobilise voters. “Today, we...

No Politics of Sycophancy: Natembeya Sets Record Straight on Ruto & Raila

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has spoken about his political relationship with President William Ruto and former Premier Raila Odinga. During an interview with a local television station on Monday, August 11, 2025, Natembeya explained that he doesn’t feel the need to have a personal connection with the president. The former county commissioner argued that the belief politicians must maintain close ties with the executive to secure development is misguided. “Our relationship with Ruto is that he is the president and I am a governor. That is the relation. He is in the national government, and I am in the county government,” he bluntly stated. Natembeya stressed that the connection between county and national governments is defined by the constitution. “He is the president of Kenya, and I don’t have another president. I don’t know why people want to...

“Stop playing the ethnic card” – Arewa group tackles Kwankwaso for criticising Tinubu’s govt

The Arewa Think Tank (ATT) has slammed Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano state, over his recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing him of using ethnic sentiment to stir political division ahead of the 2027 elections. Kwankwaso had alleged that the Tinubu-led government was investing more in southern Nigeria at the expense of the North. But in a statement issued on Saturday, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, convener of ATT, described the comments as misleading and “a dangerous distraction.” Yakubu said: “Arewa Think Tank will not support any divisive statement along ethnic, religious and regional lines. “Why didn’t a person like Kwankwaso speak out during the previous government of infrastructural deficit in the North? “We want to advise Kwankwaso not to introduce dirty regional politicking into our national discourse because it will do nobody any good.” He argued that Tinubu,...
