Lobi Stars halt winless run with 1-0 victory against 3SC

NASA Space Technology Lobi Stars four-match winless run ended with a slim 1-0 victory over 3SC in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) week 5 match played on Saturday, October 5, at the Lafia Township Stadium in Nasarawa. Before the clash with 3SC, Lobi Stars had drawn one and lost three matches including the 0-1 home defeat to Rivers United in Week three. Therefore, the 0-3 loss at Katsina United in week 4 last weekend set panic into the camp of ‘the pride of Benue’ who are prosecuting the current season under a new management. However, against 3SC, Lobi Stars ensured they picked the maximum points to avoid an early struggle with relegation.LG Poll: Happenings in Rivers call for serious concern JonathanFubara regains control as APP wins 22 out of 23 chairmanship seats in RiversAhmadu Liman assisted...

NASA’s exoplanet hunter TESS spots a record-breaking 3-star system

NASA Space Technology Using NASA's exoplanet-hunting spacecraft, the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), scientists have spotted a record-breaking triple-star system so tightly bound that it could fit comfortably between the sun and its closest planet, Mercury. The system, designated TIC 290061484 contains twin stars that race around each other once every 1.8 Earth days as well as a third star that orbits this pair once every 25 Earth days. This triple star system's super-tight orbit, located just under 5,000 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus, the swan, makes it a record-breaker.The previous record-holder for the tightest three-star system orbit is Lamba Tauri, which set the record in 1956 with its third star taking 33 days to orbit its inner twin stars.Related: Giant exoplanet the size of 2 Jupiters has a hidden companion disturbing its orbitThe discovery...

FAA grounds SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket after a malfunction on its return to Earth

NASA Space Technology The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration on Monday said SpaceX must investigate why the second stage of its workhorse Falcon 9 rocket malfunctioned after a NASA astronaut mission on Saturday, grounding the rocket for the third time in three months. After SpaceX on Saturday launched two astronauts to the International Space Station for NASA, the rocket body that had boosted the crew further into space failed to properly re-light its engine for its “deorbit burn,” a routine procedure that discards the booster into the ocean after completing its flight. The astronaut crew carried on to the ISS safely, docking on Sunday as planned. The FAA said there were no injuries or property damage linked to the booster mishap. The malfunction caused the booster to fall into a region of the Pacific Ocean outside of the designated safety zone...
