Nurses, Midwives Suspend Nationwide Strike — FG
August 01, (THEWILL) The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has agreed to suspend its ongoing seven-day nationwide warning strike.
Minister of Health, Prof. Ali Pate, disclosed this to journalists on Friday after a closed-door meeting with the leadership of the striking health workers in Abuja.
Pate said the decision followed agreements reached between the Federal Government and the unions leadership during the meeting. However, the specific terms of the agreement were yet to be made public at the time of filing this report.
Leaders of the union declined to speak with reporters following their meeting with government officials on Friday afternoon.
NANNM had embarked on a seven-day warning strike on Monday, July 29, citing the Federal Governments failure to act on a 15-day ultimatum issued on July 14.
