McCarthy suffered a tear in the meniscus of his right knee during last weekend's preseason game and that he will need to undergo surgery. McCarthy, who threw two touchdown passes in his preseason debut against the Las Vegas Raiders, will have the procedure done this week. According to ESPN, the team will know after the surgery just how long he'll need to recover, with the possibility of it knocking him out of the 2025 season.
