BREAKING NEWS: Legendary Music Icon, Akiin Shuga Is Dead
Nigerias entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of renowned live band leader and music icon, Akinloye Tofowomo, popularly known as Akiin Shuga.
In an official family statement released on Monday, the family confirmed that the revered musician and founder of Shuga Band and Shuga Entertainment passed away in New Brunswick, Canada.
The statement described Akiin Shuga as more than a musician, portraying him as a custodian of rhythm, culture, and the spirit of performance.
For over three decades, Akiin Shuga stood tall as one of Nigerias most respected live performers, leading his band with grace, mastery, and purpose. Beyond his music, he also inspired and mentored many young talents within and outside Nigerias entertainment space.

Death of two female councillors not political – Lagos APC
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has rejected claims linking the recent deaths of two female councillors in the state to politics, describing such suggestions as baseless and insensitive.
The deceased councillors are Oluwakemi Rufai, who represented Ward C1 in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, and Zainab Shotayo, the only female councillor in Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Ilupeju. Both women died within the same week, less than a month after taking office, sparking public speculation about possible political undertones.
Responding to the insinuations, the Lagos APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, cautioned against spreading misinformation and politicising the deaths.
