The Summer Hikaru Died Anime Goes Behind the Scenes in New Series

A couple news drops hit for the currently-running anime adaptation of Mokumokuren’s The Summer Hikaru Died manga. In addition to a new story visual that previews some of the events to come—right ahead of its “shocking” episode 7—a new making-of series has launched.
The Making of The Summer Hikaru Died is exactly what it sounds like, offering a peek behind the curtain with the creators of the show. The team digs into how they adapted the series and work on creating genuine fear, and you can catch the first episode now via the Kadokawa Anime YouTube channel.

The anime adaptation wasfirst announced back in May 2024 and is now streaming on Netflix as part of the summer 2025 season. Ryohei Takeshita (Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night) directs and writes series composition, with Yuichi Takahashi as character designer and chief animation director for the CygamesPictures production.
