Teenager charged with murder after mum’s body found near football fields
An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder after the body of a woman was found in Prestatyn last week. Tristan Thomas Roberts has been charged after Angela Shellis, 45, was found dead near football fields in the Morfa area close to Dawson Drive on Friday, October 24.
The 18-year-old of Coniston Drive, Prestatyn, has been remanded in police custody.

A windy and rainy day has been forecast across Wales by the Met Office.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “Rain at times in the south during the morning which may be heavy at times. This rain clears eastwards with brighter and drier spells developing through the day. Isolated showers in the west. Cooler than Tuesday, but not as breezy. Maximum temperature 12 °C.”

Plane makes emergency landing after crew bang on cockpit door over comms problem
A Los Angeles-bound flight made an emergency landing Monday after its pilots lost a radio link with flight staff, prompting them to bang on the locked cockpit door and raising fears that someone was trying to break in.Flight 6469 set off from Omaha, Nebraska at 7:23 p.m. ET but turned around and landed back at Eppley Airfield just 36 minutes later, according to FlightRadar.The American Airlines flight was operated by the regional carrier SkyWest. Cameroon’s President Paul Biya declared election winner
Ninety-two-year-old incumbent reportedly secures 53.66 percent; opponent reports gunfire targeting supporters.
Cameroon’s Constitutional Council has declared that President Paul Biya, leader of the country since 1982, has won re-election in a vote accompanied by deadly violence.
The council announced on Monday that the 92-year-old incumbent had secured 53.66 percent of the vote in the October 12 election. Opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma received 35.19 percent, it added.
“Hereby proclaimed president-elect: the candidate Biya Paul,” said Clement Atangana, president of the Constitutional Council.
Tchiroma, a former government spokesperson and minister in his late 70s, had claimed victory days before the announcement, citing results he said were collated by his party. Biya dismissed the claim.

Louvre heist breakthrough as Paris prosecutor make major announcement
Paris prosecutor announces five new arrests in investigation into Louvre crown jewel heist. The five were detained late on Wednesday night in Paris, Prosecutor Laure Beccuau told RTL radio.
She did not release their identities or other details. Two suspects arrested earlier were given preliminary charges Wednesday and partially admitted their responsibility, according to the prosecutor. The heist, which took place on October 18, saw more than £76 million worth of jewellery stolen in broad daylight including the French crown jewels, according to prosecutors.

President Donald Trump of the Untied States of America, USA, has threatened military action in Nigeria over ‘killing of Christians’.
Trump had, on Friday, said that Christians in Nigeria are facing an “existential threat,” calling on American lawmakers to investigate “mass slaughter”.
In fact, named Nigeria a “country of particular concern” – a State Department designation for nations “engaged in severe violations of religious freedom.”
Reacting, President Bola Tinubu dismissed the description of Nigeria as a nation hostile to religious freedom, insisting that the country remains committed to protecting the rights of citizens of all faiths.
Tinubu said: “Religious freedom and tolerance have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so. Nigeria opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it.”

Australia will overhaul telecommunications after Optus emergency call failure linked to 4 deaths
MELBOURNE, Australia -- Australia on Monday foreshadowed changes to the country's telecommunications industry after a major company’s failure to connect hundreds of emergency calls last week was linked to four deaths.
Optus, Australia’s second-largest telecom company, blamed a “technical failure” on Thursday last week for 624 calls failing to connect to emergency services. While Americans call “9-1-1” in an emergency, Australians call “0-0-0.” Someone died in four of those Australian emergencies.
Optus was fined more than 12 million Australia dollars ($8 million) for failing to meet emergency call rules during another network outage on Nov. 8, 2023.
Telstra, Australia’s largest telecom company, was fined AU$3 million ($2 million) in December last year for failing to comply with emergency call rules during a technical disruption at its “0-0-0” call center.
