Patrick Mahomes’ mom responds to concerning death hoax with seven-word joke

LONDON – Randi Mahomes, the mother of NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes, has responded with humour to a concerning death hoax circulating on social media. After a fake report on Facebook claimed she had passed away, Mrs Mahomes took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the false news.

The hoax originated from an unofficial “Mahomes Family” fan account, which posted a fabricated “breaking news” alert stating that she had “passed away at the age of 53”. The post garnered a significant number of reactions and comments before being exposed as a falsehood.

The American football matriarch had initially posted about her frustration at being unable to watch a Kansas City Chiefs pre-season game. In response, a user commented on her post with a screenshot of the death hoax, writing, “I’m just glad you’re still with us.”

Randi Mahomes, who is also the mother of social media personality Jackson Mahomes, replied to the comment, joking about a detail in the fake news. Her seven-word response was: “And I’m only 49 years old… they always mess up my age lol.”

Her light-hearted reaction to the distressing rumour was met with support from fans, who praised her for her resilience and sense of humour in the face of such a shocking claim.
