NASA Awards Contract for Refuse and Recycling Services

NASA Space Technology Hillary SmithNov 01, 2024NASA has awarded the Custodial and Refuse/Recycle Services contract to Ahtna Integrated Services LLC  of Anchorage, Alaska, to provide trash, waste, and recycling services at the agency’s Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley.This is a hybrid contract that includes a firm-fixed-price and an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity portion. The period of performance begins Friday, Nov. 1, with a 60-day phase-in period, followed by a one-year base period, and options to extend performance through November 2029. This contract has a maximum potential value of approximately $24 million.Under this contract, the company will perform basic, regularly scheduled custodial and refuse and recycling services at NASA Ames. NASA awards Rocket Lab study contract for Mars Sample Return

NASA Space Technology WASHINGTON — NASA has awarded a contract to Rocket Lab to study alternative concepts for Mars Sample Return (MSR), joining several other efforts to improve the cost and schedule of the program.Rocket Lab said Oct. 7 that it received a contract to study what it called “a simplified, end-to-end mission concept” for MSR that would deliver samples being collected by the Perseverance rover to Earth for a “fraction” of currently projected costs, estimated to be as high as $11 billion, and several years earlier than 2040.NASA solicited concepts for industry studies to look at alternative architectures for MSR or key elements of it, like the Mars Ascent Vehicle (MAV) rocket that will launch the collected samples into orbit around Mars. Oyo govt awards N25m to anthem composers

Politics tamfitronics The Oyo State Government has approved a N25 million compensation for the composers of the state’s anthem, We are the leaderas announced by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, after the State Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, September 24.The government also revealed plans to allocate land parcels and name streets after the composers. Governor Seyi Makinde praised the vision of Chief (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi, wife of the former governor, for initiating the anthem project.Oyelade further noted that the Ministry of Information and Orientation would produce a documentary on the anthem’s history.In addition, the council approved the promotion of 1,629 workers, including nurses previously affected by administrative errors during the 2017–2020 promotion cycle.Further, 47 civil servants dismissed under the previous administration were reinstated, while 124 workers sacked in 2012 were pardoned.
