Skanska hires Sporn from roads body to lead infrastructure operations

Skanska has appointed Dean Sporn as operations director within its UK infrastructure division.

Sporn will join in early 2025 from National Highways, where he has spent the past eight years as director of enhancements in the major projects directorate.

During his time at the government-owned roads body, he was responsible for several high-profile schemes, including the A417 Missing Link, M25 junction 10 upgrade, and the A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross dualling.

A civil engineer by background, Sporn has more than 30 years’ experience in infrastructure delivery. Before joining National Highways in 2016, he spent seven years at CPB Contractors in Australia and New Zealand, leading a AU$2bn (£1.06bn) programme of road, rail, tunnelling and healthcare projects.

Skanska UK executive vice-president Andrew English said Sporn brought “extensive infrastructure experience from the UK and overseas” to the business.

Sporn said he was drawn to Skanska’s values and approach to delivery.

“While I highly value my eight years with National Highways, I’m now looking forward to joining Skanska at what is an exciting time for the business,” he said.
